SOCRATIVE

Description of the tool

  • Socrative is an online tool for teachers to give quizzes and on-the-fly assessments to students. With Socrative you can create your own quizzes, quizzes are automatically graded, and you can create reports to evaluate how everyone did.

How to access the website

  • Go to the following link: https://www.socrative.com/

  • This time, you definitely need a teacher account. After signing up, you can identify your room name at the top of the webpage. If you want to prepare a quiz, choose Quizzes and then “add quiz”(It is just like a kahoot, so no worries).

How it works

  • There is a launch section in which you can select the mode of the activity: Quiz (individual), space race (as a group) and exit ticket. After selecting the type of activity, you can also choose the delivery method (I suggest you choose the one you like and then open “require names”, “show question feedback”, and “show final score”). Then your activity starts. All you need to do is to give the room name to the students so that they can complete the activity. In the end, you can see their reports.

How it can be used in the classroom

  • It is like an alternative to kahoot, yet the reports are way more advanced and it is really easier to use. There are many affordances such as quizzes, quick questions, exit tickets and even class count. The exit ticket can be used at the end of each session in order to identify how well the students understand the topic of the day or what they learned. You can also quickly ask your own question to test their understanding. You can watch some videos for further information.
